Learners have a blast at fun day

Msizi and Snako Mokone and Phila Mashinini.

The children, including some elderly, yet mostly parents, enjoyed activities such as jumping castles, face painting, human-sized foosball and walking the plank.

The volunteer coaches from Kohin in attendance were Celia Joubert, Hazel Mathenjwa, Nomfundo Nkosi, Thelsa Mthunywa, Simon Mahlangu and Trevor Ntombela.

According to Joubert, they held the fun day as part of their appreciation of the Dutch Reformed Church, which is one of their main sponsors.

She said as Kohin coaches, they are stationed in four schools around the Barberton’s Department of Education Circuit, where they act as mediators between pupils and parents as well as pupils and teachers.

“We are life coaches and developers to the learners. At the same time, we are also acting as mediators for trouble among them all,” she said.

The schools where they are stationed in are KaMhola and Barberton secondary schools, Fairview and Mountainview primary schools. The children enjoyed the fun day immensely.
