This organisation is one of South Africa’s most-loved charities.

Barberton Wimpy once again partnered with the Reach for a Dream Foundation for Slipper Day.

According to franchise owner Frik Yanekee, the aim to is to support the foundation.

“Wimpy has an initiative to raise funds by encouraging people to buy a wristband for R10, qualifying them to wear slippers to work. The organisation makes dreams come true for children suffering from serious, often terminal, illnesses,” said Yanekee.

Reach for a Dream was established in 1988, and hundreds of South African children have been able to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted, such as birthday parties.

“They are also often given the chance to explore the extraordinary by swimming with dolphins, for instance, or meeting their lifelong heroes,” added Yanekee.

Last year Wimpy raised over R1,4 million from the Slipper Day bracelets. This year Wimpy also gave away 33 276 cups of free Famous Wimpy Coffee to all who came through with their wristbands and slippers.
