Taste of luxury for senior women

Bob’s Old Age Home was a hive of activity last Wednesday with a visit from Mrs Mpumalanga finalist, Jené Smit.
Smit provided spa treatments to the women, along with therapeutic massages.
This spoiling of the elderly by Smith came few days after the country commemorated the International Day for Older Persons.
In December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.

“We really had a great amount of fun. There is nothing wrong with their sense of humour. I laughed so much while taking the time to make them feel pretty,” said Smit.
She said getting to spend time with these elderly women brought her just as much joy as she brought to them.
“I think elderly people deserve the world. I missed my own mother so much today. I literally cannot wait to see her again. With the help of the Lord of course, she taught me about life and how to love. I think my kind and caring spirit definitely comes from her. I believe that it is our responsibility to touch the lives of others. Do whatever you are capable of doing, and use your talents and interests to make a difference in someone’s life,” said Smit.
She said when it comes to community or charity work, while money is important, it can not buy happiness.

“Acceptance or love; those are the most important elements everybody in life really needs, in my opinion,” concluded Smit – one of the women who made it to the top 16 of Mrs Mpumalanga 2018.
The announcement of the overall winner will be held in Mbombela on November 4.
