Barberton General Hospital aims to educate citizens with an open day

Barberton General Hospital

According to Sunel Smit from the hospital, the aim of the day is to educate the community of Umjindi about all the services rendered by the public health facility.
She said the day will serve as an opportunity for the public to ask questions. The hospital’s management will also be on site to provide them with answers.
“We would like to encourage the public to attend the event.
“Their input in service delivery is vital as they are the end users. They will benefit from providing us with information and asking questions. They must come and enjoy the day with us,” said Smit.

The hospital started to function in 1884. Since then it has remained open to the public to be utilised as a well-functioning medical facility in delivering quality patient care, which is provided by dedicated health-care providers.
Smit said despite the old structure, the hospital is well maintained, neat and clean at all times.
“Tomorrow information stalls will be set up to be visited by the guests to access more information from the individual stalls. We will also have delegates from the Mpumalanga Department of Health, who will address the community,” added Smit.
The open day will start at 10:00.
