Three die and one assaulted in Easter-weekend violence

Three unknown men were killed and one badly assaulted in separate incidents in and around Barberton over the Easter weekend.

Capt Jabu Ndubane, SAPS spokesman, said all four were without identity documents.

“The first one was shot on Saturday at Emjindini, Extension 11 at around 01:40.”

According to information received, two groups were fighting when a victim of approximately 30 years was shot in the chest.

“He was rushed to Barberton Hospital and when asked who shot him, he said the police must ask the group in Extension 11. He then died. Before he passed away he said his name was Sibusiso, but did not get the chance to share all the information needed to identify him. A murder case was opened and the suspects are unknown,” said Ndubane.

“He was also badly attacked in Emjindini. The police do not have information on what was used to assault the three men. They were injured all over their bodies. We want to urge the people who have missing loved ones to go and check if they know any of these men,” Ndubane said.
