Barberton XCM MTB challenge takes place this weekend

The 21st annual Barberton XCM Mountain Bike Challenge (MTB) event will take place this weekend. Pre-entries have closed, although you can still enter. Late entries will take place at Hoërskool Barberton on Friday from 15:00 to 21:00, and Saturday from 05:30.

This is one of the most well-attended events in Barberton. All races will start and end at Hoërskool Barberton. The Barberton Rotary Club launched the marathon 21 years ago.

Time slots for the five different categories on Saturday

• The very delicate 20km fun ride: 08:00

• The delicate 30km half-marathon: 07:45

• The not so delicate 48km half-marathon:

07:20

• The not so delicate 77km full marathon: 07:00

• The not so delicate 110km ultramarathon: 06:30.

Barberton Kleuterskool is offering rides for the little ones between two to 10 years. All categories at the race finish at 15:30.

Each rider needs to be timed, and in order to be timed, they must have a registered Racetec chip. These can be purchased and checked at registration.

There will be a pre-ride on Friday and post-ride on Sunday.
