Interhigh tickets are now available

Trudy Ndwandwe, Lifa Nkosi, Lindelwa Mathebula, Lucinda Joubert, (back) Yanga Tenza, Sihle Mkhawane, Lindelwa Siyenga and Sanele Mahlalela.

The tickets for the 68th Mediclinic Lowveld Interhigh athletics meeting are now on sale.The contest will be held at on February 18 at Hoërskool Barberton (BHS).

The tickets are available from all the seven schools which will participate, which are BHS, Lowveld High School (LHS), Bergvlam, Penryn College, Lydenburg, Nelspruit, and Rob Ferreira.

About 3 000 pupils, 1 065 athletes, and 1 802 spectators will be in attendance of this prestigious event.

According to Lynette de la Rey, from BHS, if you buy the ticket before the day of the event, you will have a different route from those who did not.

“If you have your ticket there will be a route you use and it will be much easier because you won’t have to queue. We will have a route for those who still have to buy. We will provide all the different routes before the event on social media, Barberton Times and various other platforms.”

The price for the ticket is R50 per chair.

“We do not have different prices; we only have one for everyone. The parking ticket is R20. We want to urge everyone to also buy tickets for parking and, refreshments before the event. We will have a variety of stalls during the event.”

The cheerleaders have been chosen and they are currently getting ready for the big day. Trudy Ndwandwe, Lifa Nkosi, Lindelwa Mathebula, Lucinda Joubert, Yanga Tenza, Sihle Mkhawane, Lindelwa Siyenga and Sanele Mahlalela will be responsible for uplifting the spirit of the spectators and participants.

As part of preparations, the local school is training every day and the team that will represent the school is also preparing.

“We have set aside periods in our school programme which are dedicated to preparing our pupils for the upcoming event. The school will also host a Prestigious Athletic Interhouse on February 11.”

To host such an event, the school has also made some alterations and additions to its current facilities.

A BHS Medical Centre with a biokineticist and physiotherapist will assist participants, a new scoreboard sponsored by Barberton Ford, additional advertising space, a clubhouse referred to as Mica Rugby Clubhouse, new dressing rooms and toilets, and a veranda in front of the BHS clubhouse have all been added.
