Umjindi municipality to enter into merger without a CFO

Umjindi Local Municipality will enter into the merger with Mbombela Local Municipality in August without a chief financial officer (CFO). This follows the resignation of its CFO, Paul Mpele.

Sam Jele, Umjindi spokesman, confirmed that Mpele was no longer on the payroll of the municipality.
Jele said Mpele finally stepped down as Umjindi CFO at the end of April.

“He served his resignation notice and he is now an employee of Lesedi Local Municipality in the Sedibeng District of Gauteng,” said Jele.

Mpele is serving in the same capacity at his new employer.
In a prepared speech, which was delivered by the municipal manager, Pat Msibi during Mpele’s farewell at Barberton Town Hall, Msibi acknowledged Mpele’s dedication and hard work during his time at Umjindi.

“He was a dedicated worker, who encouraged his fellow workers. As council we wish him well with his future endeavours as he has served us with aplomb,” said Msibi.

Mpele was appointed Umjindi CFO in December 1, 2011.
